Sun City Shadow Hills is an active retirement community, which debuted in 2004 as the second Del Webb creation of its kind. SCSH is just east of its sister, Sun City Palm Desert, and is currently selling its third phase of homes to complete the project. When it’s all said and done, this community will have 3,400 homes compared to SCPD’s 5,000. Its ten floor plans are designed around energy-saving features.
SCSH, located off Jefferson Boulevard is a 55-and-older club and is situated on 771 acres. It’s nestled between Interstate 10 and the Little San Bernadino Mountains. There are three home collections all together with 23 floor plans and sizes ranging from a little over 1,000 square feet to 3,000. Pulte Home Corporation, the nation’s largest homebuilder, joined with Del Webb to build this massive undertaking. Homes feature granite kitchens, detached casitas, and many energy efficient additions.
Montecito Clubhouse is a 35,000 square-foot center that houses the community’s recreation center. There is an indoor walking track, pool, ballroom, fitness area, dance studio, and ballroom. Residents can also use the billiards room, library, and computer lab. Scheduled classes include Zumba and Pilates.
Golfers love the Mountain Vista 18-hole championship course which was designed by Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt. It offers six sets of tees, a pro shop, driving range, and putting green, as well as a restaurant and snack shop. SCSH has a second, smaller clubhouse named Santa Rosa and it has a gym, indoor track, and meeting rooms. There are many clubs that residents can belong to including the Baptist Church Group, Democrats, Republicans, and Jewish Outreach Group.
